Every year between Thanksgiving and Christmas we ring the Salvation Army Bell outside of Walmart.  All of the money collected benefits local people who need help paying a utility bill or rent.  They are vetted and there is a limited amount that can be paid directly to the utility or landlord.  They can also only be helped once a year, BUT the help from Salvation Army is still very much needed.

It is important that the bell is rung all day, Monday through Saturday, from the day after Thanksgiving through Christmas Eve, so that the necessary funds are raised.  Churches and church-groups will take blocks of time, with their members ringing one hour, usually.  Individuals and families will sign up for other time slots.  You can sign up your church, yourself, or your family.  Cliff can schedule you.
